The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) girls volleyball season continued Monday all across the isle.
KS-Hawai‘i 3, Laupahoehoe 0
Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i girls volleyball continued its hot start with a straight-sets win over Laupahoehoe in Kea‘au.
The Warriors beat the Seasiders handily — 25-9, 25-11 and 25-8. Shay Beals and Mia Polloi combined for 24 kills, while teammate Kealohi Dudoit dished out 33 assists. Taliya Nishida recorded four service aces.
Now at 6-0, KS-Hawai‘i joins Parker as the only other Big Island team to reach six wins. The Warriors will look to keep it going against Hilo on Thursday night at home. Junior varsity is slated to play first at 5 p.m.
Laupahoehoe (0-3) played Waiakea on Tuesday night. See tomorrow’s paper for the results.
JV: KSH beats SJS 2-0 — 25-17, 25-19.
Ehunui 3, MLCA 1
Ehunui girls volleyball handled Makua Lani Christian Academy in four competitive sets in Kona’s Old Airport Gymnasium. The Lions won the first set 25-22, but the ‘Io bounced back with a 25-14 second-frame victory. In the final two sets, Ehunui closed out Makua Lani 25-20 and 25-15.
The ‘Io are 2-3 thus far in their first season back in the BIIF since 2017. Ehunui’s next challenge will be against local opponent Kealakehe at 10 a.m. Saturday at home.
The Lions (0-4) will play 5 p.m. Friday against Kanu o ka ‘Aina at Old Airport.
HPA 3, Kohala 0
Hawaii Preparatory Academy girls volleyball stayed unbeaten after a straight-sets win over Kohala in Kapa‘au.
Ka Makani won 25, 12, 26-24 and 25-19. HPA has started 5-0 for the second straight season under head coach Daena Craven.
Ka Makani will return to the court tonight, hosting fellow BIIF rival Konawaena in Castle Gym. Junior varsity will play first at 5 p.m.
The Cowgirls (2-3) played at Honoka‘a High School on Tuesday night against the Dragons. See Thursday’s paper for the results.
